Changes in Customs Clearance Procedures

Our familiar CHIEF Customs Entry Processing System, one of the world's largest and most sophisticated electronic services for managing customs declarations processess, is due to be changed. It's nearly 25 years old and is struggling to adapt to new requirements.

CDS (Customs Declaration Service) is the new replacement and implementation of the changes are due to take place during 2020.

The changes will see the replacement of the Single Administrative Document, affectionately known as the SAD. SAD by name and SAD by nature, but it will be SAD to see it disappear from our familair scene of entry processing. CDS will replace SAD with Data Elements (D/E).

With significant changes in customs procedures, CDS will without doubt change the way we do customs declarations and a new familiar routine will need to be adapted.
