Commodity Codes

  • Feb 13, 2017

Tariff Classification codes are reissued every five years and so this year, 2017, will see the Harmonised System (HS) commodity code amendments introduced from January 1st.

It is good compliance practice to check your Tariff Classification Codes at the beginning of each year, in order to ensure that your goods are classified correctly and that your are paying the right levels of UK Import Duty.

Failure to ensure your goods are declared properly can lead to heavy penalties being imposed on you by HMRC.

MIES can offer help and assistance in the commodity code classification process. For more information contact us by email at – sales@mies.co.uk.
