PREPARING FOR A NO DEAL BREXIT - EXPORTING

In preparation for a No Deal BREXIT, HM Government have issued guidelines to aid UK businesses in the unlikely event that the UK leaves the EU without any Trade Agreement in place. You need to be aware of the following Key Actions under items 1 – 10 below that will need to be carried out in order to continue trading with the EU in the event of a No Deal BREXIT.

The bullet points below are for advice and guidance only and HM Government will advise when the time is right for UK Exporters to take a course of action.

KEY ACTIONS

1. Ensure you have an EORI Number

2. Check if your goods require a UK Export Licence

3. Ensure you have the right Commodity Code

4. Ensure you select the right Customs Procedure Code (CPC)

5. Ensure that you appoint a Professional Freight Forwarder

6. If you appoint a third party to look after your export customs compliance, do so in writing

7. Ensure you outline whether the third party is empowered to act as DIRECT or INDIRECT Representative.

8. Ensure you provide a Commercial Invoice & Packing List, along with any other export documents, such as Licence, Cert of Origin, Letter of Credit

9. Ensure you keep accurate export records and files for customs audit purposes

10. Your Exports MUST be declared to HMRC prior to UK Export

11. If you choose to prepare your NES Declarations yourself, ensure you have the necessary trained personnel in place.
