The Importance of a UK EORI Number

  • Aug 30, 2019
  • 1 min read

We have been advised by BIFA that HM Revenue & Customs have recently issued 88,700 UK VAT registered businesses who trade with the EU with a UK EORI number. This is part of the UK's preperations for leaving the EU.

If you have recently received notification from HMRC of your EORI number you may well be unfamiliar with the processes involved in international trade and therefore may not have understood the full implications of the UK leaving the EU.

The EORI is a prerequisite in order for a business to move goods in and out of the UK. If you intend to move any shipment in and out of the UK, you must have an EORI. If you have not yet applied for one do it now by contacting HMRC at www.gov.uk/hmrc/get-eori
